Mr Trump repeatedly vowed to crush the monstrous death cult – which has carried out several attacks in the US – during his election campaign.
And he praised the ruthless Russian president for “bombing the hell” out of ISIS strongholds in war-torn Syria and Iraq.
During a tense debate last month, he said: “Russia is killing ISIS. I think it would be great if we got along with Russia. We could fight ISIS together.”
Unlike most world leaders, Mr Putin warmly welcomed Mr Trump’s surprise victory over Democratic rival Hillary Clinton this morning.During a phone call to the Moscow supremo, the President-elect spoke about mending the US’ frosty relations with Russia.
Mr Putin said: “Russia is ready and wants to restore full relations with the US. We understand this will be difficult, but we are ready to play our part in it.”
